Luke 10:40-42

“But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

Martha was in the presence of Jesus and still cumbered. Her load was still heavy, she was still stressed, she was still frustrated.

She could hear his voice as she labored.

But she was not still, she was not at his feet.

Your load can be unnecessarily heavy because you are not prioritizing time at his feet.

"We are trying to replace praying with obedience. There is no amount of doing that can outdo prayer." AW Tozer

Are you weary and cumbered?

When was the last time you sat at his feet?

Martha heard his voice.

She felt his presence.

But they were background noise for her as she cumbered herself in the very presence of Jesus.

Are you cumbered and burdened in the very presence of Jesus?

Are you “weary in well doing?”

How long has it been since you sat as his feet, rather than using his voice as background noise?

Don’t become so used to his presence, that you no longer sit in awe of it. Martha was so familiar with his voice, so instead of stopping to listen, and bring herself to his feet, she stayed burdened in the very presence of the One who loved her most!

No amount of doing can replace being at his feet. Don’t be burdened and familiar in and with his presence.

Get back to his feet.

There has not been a chapter of my life—no valley too low, no mountaintop too high—that hasn’t whispered this truth back to me: God is exactly as good as the Bible says He is. Not just on the days whe

Jesus wins

I’ve heard it my whole life. Jesus always wins. It’s stitched into memory like an old Sunday school banner. Echoed in sermons. Sung in songs. But today? Today I don’t feel like I’m on the winning side

I can see him

I used to believe that walking with God meant having some sort of map, if not the full route, at least the next step, the next door, the next green light. But now? I am standing in the fog. Everything
