Holy Women

1 Peter 3:5

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:”

Holy-pure, consecrated, innocent, modest

What were the characteristics of these holy women?

-Trusted in God

-adorned themselves (adorned means to put properly in order, to take care of, to decorate)

-in subjection to their own husbands (obedient, to put oneself under, to ordain one as ruler)

-they were known for their holy conduct and behavior.

Where are the holy women?

We are clearly given the behavioral characteristics of a holy woman. Yet we think we can partially have those chat and still be a holy woman.

But that’s the whole point of holiness.

It does nothing halfway.

There is no such thing as almost holy or halfway holiness. It’s all or nothing. You’re either holy or you’re not.

Where are the women who choose to reject the mold that the world seeks to put them in?

Where are the women who choose to trust the Lord rather than themselves? Where are the women who do things properly and in order? Who take care of themselves and their families?

Who are obedient to their husbands, and honor the design of marriage that God set in place?

Where are the women who want to be MORE than mediocre?

I know good women.

I know strong women.

I even know spiritual women.

But I know very few holy women.

Everything in life boils down to a choice.

You can choose to live your life like a holy woman, but if you choose anything less, you will NOT be a holy woman.

You can be a good woman pretty easily.

But to be a holy woman?

It takes work, discipline, consecration.

Who will train up the next generation of holy women if you don’t make the choice to be a holy woman? Who will train another generation that they can have confidence in a trustworthy God? How to forsake our culture’s glorification of doing things halfway? How to be obedient to the husband and honor that authority figure?

Who will if you don’t?

I can be a good woman, and join the masses of other good women.

But I NEED to be a holy woman.

My family needs a holy woman.

My kingdom work needs a holy woman.

And a holy woman will never exist in a halfway capacity.
