Jezebel

1 Kings 16:32

“And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.”

Why did Ahab provoke the Lord more?

Because of Jezebel.

She drove him to worship Baal.

She drove him to make the grove.

Her name literally means “Baal exalts.”

And according to historians, she was a priestess in the temple of Baal.

She took over the spiritual direction of her home.

She hated Elijah.

She is the one who plagued the servants of God.

She manipulated.

She deceived.

She controlled Ahab, and because of her, he is known for his wickedness.

You were never supposed to be in control.

The wife is the heart of the home, not the head.

There was no heart in the home of Jezebel and Ahab because Jezebel refused the place she was created for.

She took the reins in everything, which is why their home worshipped everything but God.

When you seek to take roles that are not yours, you will NEVER drive your home to the Lord.

Jezebel took over the spiritual reigns of her home, and introduced all kinds of idols to Ahab, and the nation of Israel.

Had she relinquished control, would Ahab have repented when Elijah came to him?

You weren’t created to be the leader.

You were created to nurture.

Be the heart.

When you usurp that divinely ordered “chain of command,” you leave the home heartless as you war for a spot that you were never intended to fill.

I see so many children suffer because mama is not filling her God designed role, and the home has no heart. Without a heart, there is no joy, there is no life, there is no nurturing. The enemy sneaks in easily to a heartless home.

When there is no life, no heartbeat in the home, it’s easy for him to steal and destroy because there is no life to put up a fight.

A heartless home is a defenseless one.

That divine privilege of being the heart of the home is not one to be taken lightly.

Don’t leave your home heartless.
