No victory in suppositions

John 20:15-16

“Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.”

Mary made a supposition, an assumption, that Jesus was the gardener, and almost missed him completely. The Lord was before her eyes and she supposed him to be something else.

If you allow suppositions and assumptions to rule your heart, you’ll miss Jesus in right in front of you.

We deal in facts.

In Truth.

Don’t let suppositions reign in your heart and rob you of the joy of having Jesus right before your eyes! When she was focused on her assumption, there was no victory. She still thought someone had stolen the body of Jesus away, and she was blinded to the risen Savior before her.

When those suppositions whisper in your ear, seeking to stir up fear, disunity, and hurt…listen for the Lord.

When Mary was knee deep in suppositions, Jesus speaking her name was all it took to make all of that flee.

No one can say your name like Jesus can!

Listen for his voice.

Not the whispers of what may or may not be!

If the enemy cannot send a trial or problem, he will seek to stir up a make believe one.

He uses assumptions to rob us of the victory of a risen Savior, because we are so focused on what we assume or suppose.

Listen for the voice of Jesus.

Let his tender call calm your heart.

Stand on what’s true.

Don’t play make believe.
