Pastors after HIS heart

Jeremiah 3:15

“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”

Not many people want pastors after the Lord’s own heart anymore.

They want pastors after THEIR own heart.

They want knowledge and understanding, as long as it doesn’t step on their toes. As long as the message feels good. As long as they’re not held accountable for anything.

Churches are full of stagnant Christians because they’ve made sure the pulpit is filled with someone after their own heart, not the Lord’s.

97% of Pastors have been betrayed, falsely accused, and deeply wounded by their trusted friends.

70% of Pastors battle depression

Over 7,000 churches close each year

More than 1,500 pastors quit each month

Less than 10% will retire as pastor

88% of pastors are discouraged

94% of pastor families feel pressure from the ministry

78% of pastors have no close friends

95% of pastors report working 55-75 hours per week

That’s why a Pastor after the Lord’s heart is a treasure. They endure, they are long suffering, they are bold, they love deeply.

A heart like yours, at best, will falter…It’s limited by the flesh it’s clothed in.

But a heart after the Lord’s heart…those hearts are made of something not of this world.

It’s time to stop trying to press men of God into a mold after your own heart. Start supporting them in their God given calling, and support them as they live after HIS heart. Even if it steps on your toes, even if you’re held accountable, even if it doesn’t always feel good.

He wasn’t called to make you feel good.

He was called to give knowledge and understanding, AFTER THE LORD’S HEART.

Support the man who stands boldly and follows after the Lord’s heart.

Honor him for his calling.

Love on him and his family.

Encourage them.

If you have the best, tell them.

And I know I do, and I’m grateful to be under the pastor after the Lord’s own heart that I am!

You have the power to keep your pastor and his family from being a statistic, or you can push them into a statistic.

Use that power wisely.
