You’re in the winning side

There are moments when fear grips our hearts—when the battle seems lost before it has even begun. Like Elisha’s servant, we look around and see only the vastness of the enemy, the weight of opposition pressing in on every side. It feels as though darkness has the upper hand, as though we are standing alone against forces too great to withstand.

But then God opens our eyes.

Suddenly, we see what was there all along. The hills are alive with the armies of Heaven, chariots of fire blazing in glorious defense. We are not abandoned. We are not outnumbered. We are not losing.

For every enemy that stands against us, there is a host of angels warring on our behalf. For every fear, there is a shield. For every weapon formed, there is a greater force rendering it powerless. The battle has already been won. The victory is already ours.

What we see with our human eyes is not the whole story. The truth is far greater, far stronger, far more beautiful than our fear would have us believe. We are surrounded by the presence of God Himself. And if He is for us, who could ever stand against us?

So take heart. The armies of Heaven march beside you. The King of Glory fights for you. And no matter how things may appear—no matter how fierce the battle may seem—you are standing on the winning side.
